“A real romantic gem.”

“Excellent stay in Brittany. In many ways out of this world- in the very best way. Our suite was beautiful, with a marvellous view on the field and water. A real romantic gem. The breakfast was very good, enjoyed at a art-nouveau table with the view. They have a good bakery close-by, and provide them with some of the best products of the region. Best recommendations for dinner and a drink. Thank you Patrick and Barbora!”

“Everything was wonderful!”

“Everything was wonderful! I visited with my mom for a few days and everything exceeded our expectations - from the comfort and beauty of the rooms and home to the grounds and the lovely hosts. They suggested wonderful local spots, were kind and accommodating and served a fantastic breakfast. Couldn't have asked for more and can't wait to go back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Château de Penfrat is a special place.”

"You can horse-ride or hike freely around the forested parkland or watch birds on the Odet estuary near this peaceful chateau – a handsome hunting lodge built by eccentric nobles, now owned by easy-going Patrick and Barbora. There's a retro feel to the salons and dining room, with their black and white photos and 1950s accessories, but the south-facing bedrooms are fresh and sunny. The estate is a lovely relaxing bubble but, with all the attractions of Brittany on the doorstep, one worth bursting out of."

“Memorable stay.

My wife and I and two friends stayed 3 nights at Chateau de Penfrat in May. Our hosts, Patrick and Barbora were most hospitable and helpful and our accommodations were spacious, clean, airy and artfully furnished. We chose to have dinner in our first night there, and we were served a delicious meal of seafood and fresh asparagus and a salad right out of the garden, followed by dessert and accompanied by wine for a very reasonable price, all served in a lovely dining room with a view to the river.
Patrick arranged a kayak excursion that left from his pier, and Barbora was most helpful with our travel plans.
The whole atmosphere is down to earth and unpretentious, the service friendly and attentive.
We hope to return.

“Fairy tale castle in the woods.”

The hosts Barbora and Patrick made our 4 night stay memorable. We had a huge sitting
room, bedroom, and magnificent ensuite. Breakfasts were delicious. The hosts even included us
in their Friday "soirée"! Our suite looked out on water and moored boats.
What a fantastic place from which to explore the Finistère coast and quaint villages.

“So friendly and welcoming.”

We have just spent a glorious 3 days with Barbora at this delightful chateau. When sat in the room all you hear is the sounds of birds chirping. The view over the grounds to the river are amazing. As you would expect the rooms are comfortable and totally in style with the chateau.
The breakfast was excellent, typically French, everything fresh and tasty. When we arrived we booked an evening meal for the first night and ended up eating there every night. The first night we ate Langoustines on the pontoon on the river with Barbora and other guests. We didn't want the evening to end. The second night we ate in the garden, again with delightful company and great food. The final evening we ate inside. All of the food and company was superb.
We are English and although we speak a little French, The other guests were from France, Germany, Italy and New York, and English was the language of the day. Barbora speaks excellent English (almost better than me), so concerns about language is not an issue here.

“Captivating !”

This is by far the most dreamiest place I have every stayed in. Barbora and Patrick managed to create a warm, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, we enjoyed all the conversations with them and music.
The breakfast has a fabulous spread and the home-cooked dinners with all the local specialties are exceptional. They even arranged a small, delightful tea-time for us since we are on the property most of the time. The rooms all overlook the expansive grounds, and in the mornings, you can see the mist rolling in from the river.
Such genuinely warm hosts, you feel like you are visting close friends instead of a hotel.
If I come back to Quimper, it will only be to stay in this Chateau again!!
Tip: Take a walk with their dog, he might take you for an interesting tour :)
It is about a 10-min drive from Quimper town. We arranged with the hosts to pick us up from Quimper train station as we had no car.
